Meet the Author — Amelia
Hi, I’m Amelia — the founder, writer, and chief coffee-drinker behind Travelers Enthusiasm.
If you’ve ever found yourself standing in a foreign airport with a broken suitcase wheel, a dead phone, and absolutely no idea where the taxi rank is — congratulations, you already know me. I’ve been there. More than once. And every one of those slightly chaotic moments taught me something valuable about traveling smarter.
How It All Started
My love affair with travel didn’t begin with a glamorous gap year or a carefully curated bucket list. It began with curiosity — a stubborn, restless curiosity about how people live, eat, work, and laugh in places different from my own. My first real trip was equal parts thrilling and humbling. I packed too much, planned too little, and discovered that no amount of YouTube videos can fully prepare you for the feeling of actually being somewhere new.
That trip changed everything. I came home determined to keep going — and equally determined to learn from every mistake I’d made. Over the years, those mistakes became lessons, the lessons became systems, and the systems eventually became this blog.
Why I Started Travelers Enthusiasm
I started Travelers Enthusiasm because I was tired of buying travel products based on glowing reviews that turned out to be exaggerations, following destination guides that read like Wikipedia entries, and reading “expert” comparisons clearly written by someone who had never owned the products.
I wanted to create the kind of resource I wished I’d had when I was just starting out — a blog that treats readers like intelligent adults, gives straight answers, and admits when something isn’t worth the money.
What I Bring to the Table
Years of personal travel across diverse destinations have given me a hands-on understanding of what actually matters on the road. I’ve tested countless backpacks, suitcases, packing organizers, travel tech gadgets, and comfort accessories in real-world conditions — not in a studio with perfect lighting. I research extensively before writing any review or comparison, cross-checking specs, reading verified user feedback, examining warranty policies, and weighing long-term value rather than just first impressions.
Beyond gear, I genuinely enjoy the planning side of travel — itineraries, logistics, budgeting, transport hacks, accommodation strategies, and the unsexy spreadsheet work that turns a stressful trip into a smooth one.
My Promise to You
When you read something on Travelers Enthusiasm, here’s what you can count on. Every recommendation is something I’d genuinely suggest to a close friend. Every review is written with both pros and cons clearly laid out. Every guide is built around real-world usefulness rather than fluff or filler. And every word is written by me — not by a content farm or an AI pretending to have been somewhere it hasn’t.
Beyond the Blog
When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me planning the next trip, comparing flight prices for fun (yes, really), reorganizing my packing cubes for the hundredth time, or sipping coffee in a café and people-watching — one of travel’s most underrated pleasures.
Let’s Connect
I love hearing from readers — whether you have a question about a destination, want a product recommendation tailored to your trip, spotted something on the blog that needs updating, or just want to share a travel story of your own. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
